Thoughts on this project
Thank you very much for visiting our page!!!
I am Ryu Murata, writing this project.
I’m from Zushi City, Kanagawa and now a 3rd year college student in Sophia University. Being a university student, I do some activities at NAMIMATI なみまち.
Before starting this new project, I didn’t have much knowledge on food, so I have gained knowledge through listening to farmers’ and meat processors’ stories and reading a lot of books, and of cause, I’m still learning.
To illustrate How important “Food” is and What “Food” should be in the future to the society, we launched this project.
Much appreciation to the companies and organizations which support us with their goods, venue and foundation and NAMIMATI members, moderating the meetings every week, editing the videos, making the posters, negotiating with companies.
Let’s make this crowdfunding success together! We need YOU visiting our page. I would appreciate if you read at the bottom of the page. Thanks.
Who we are, NAMIMATI なみまち?
We, NAMIMATI なみまち are Generation Z group, composed of mainly university students working on environmental issues and social issues especially SDGs. It is organized from Kamakura, Shonan and has 4 branches and more than 50 members across Kanto, Kansai and Tokai, Japan and Seattle, USA.
The image that social problems are rigid remains, and many young people are not interested in them. Generation Z is familiar with social media and we would send photos that bring a fashionable and fun atmosphere, so that uninterested people would also be interested.

Our purpose
Even if a company provides sustainable products and services, the cost will be relatively high, and consumers will not see the value in them and will not buy them. Therefore, companies cannot enter the market.
Raising consumer awareness of sustainability
The change in society due to entering the market of companies
New Project which connects from Farm to Fork
We are going to hold “Sustainable Food Market in Shonan” involved in sustainable “Food.”
This is the poster of the first event on Saturday, June 26th below.
・Companies and restaurants in Shonan that are involved in sustainable food will be invited to set up several booths to create a stylish atmosphere like Farmers Markets.
・We will expand the scale. Now, we are planning the first event in June, the second one in August and the third one in October in RIVIERA Zushi Marina.
・A single route will be created at the venue to provide learning and experience of the process from primary industries such as farmers to the sale of products such as curry, using vegetable sales, panels, and videos.
・In order to make this event a reality, we will shoot a variety of videos and make a documentary film.
The film will be screened at CINEMA AMIGO, which also hosts the Zushi Film Festival, and will be a big hit.
・NAMIMATI will be the main store, selling sustainable curry in a food truck at a “asking price”.
Creating the new value by selling the curry “asking price”
We will sell the curry, which contributes to reducing food loss and local production for local consumption, with asking price. Rather than the seller setting the price based solely on production costs, we make consumers think the value including
Production Costs+Sustainability+Passion
This is what we call creating the new value.
Therefore, we encourage consumers to be aware of environmental issues by inviting them to take an active role in deciding the price.
Sustainable Spice Curry Filled with Plenty of Thoughts and Feelings
STEP 1: Rescuing the Organic Vegetables which would be Thrown Away
We will make the curry with the effective use of Mottainai vegetables like scratched, misshapen, or eaten by insects from KAKIEMON Farm, which is Organic Farm in Fujisawa, Kanagawa without any chemical fertilizers and pesticides.
These Photos are taken when we had a harvest experience at KAKIEMON Farm.
(Picture on the left is a radish with cracks and on the right is an overgrown radish.)
(Small carrots thinned out)
STEP2: Making curry pastes from vegetables and authentic Indian spices!
We use the spices from Mr. Bharat Mehta, who is an authentic Indian spice dealer from ANAN Corporation in Gokurakuji, Kamakura. We will offer you a perfect curry paste made from Mottainai vegetables at that moment with a variety of authentic Indian spices supervised Mr. Bharat Mehta.
STEP3: Bottling
We will bottle this perfect curry paste sponsored by FARM CANNING , which is the bottling company in Zushi, Kanagawa, so we can reserve them for five month and contribute to reducing food loss!
And more, we will put the label, NAMIMATI designed, on and prepare them as one of the return goods.
STEP4: Curry with Sustainable Plates and Spoons!
We will serve you the curry with environmentally friendly Japanese Wooden Plates made of lumbers of cedar remnants and thinned woods in Japanese forests from YUFU, NPO Corporation in Kamakura. These Japanese wooden plates will be used sufficiently like the cycle on the picture above.
We use the spoons from BALIISM Japan Co., Ltd., which makes sustainable tableware products from Bali Island. Bamboo spoons are made from 100 % natural materials which would be thrown away due to their scratches in the manufacturing process and discoloration.
Our Concept: “From Farm to Fork” originated in EU
We would like to proceed based on the concept of “From Farm to Fork“ announced by the EU on this project! We will contribute to four matters below.
To achieve the concept, “From Farm to Fork,” we will return 20 % of the profit of the curry with asking price at this event,
so that we guarantee primary industries profits.
Contributing to No.2, 12 and 15 of SDGs!
2, ZERO HUNGER
Ensure sustainable agriculture and benefit everyone in the process, from primary industry to sales.
・By using vegetables that would normally be thrown away, we ensure a sustainable food production system and practice sustainable agriculture.
12, RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION AND PRODUCTION
Making effective use of vegetables that would be thrown away and contributing to the reduction of food loss
Awareness that each of us is responsible to environmental problems
・By participating in this event, the customer decides the price of the curry and becomes actively informed and aware of sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.
15, LIFE ON LAND
Using environmentally friendly containers and contributing to the sustainable use of forests
・Using them means not only the utilization of forest resources but also the creation of sustainable circulation cycle since used plates are returned to the forests. Also, by using the spoons that were to be discarded made of bamboos which is a fast-growing plant.
Our Goals
1, To Success in This Crowdfunding
We believe that people who agree with the idea of sustainable development and find value in the event will support us. Crowdfunding provides a way for people who’s interested get truly involved. Crowdfunding enables us to create “new value” which consists of “Passion” and “Sustainability”.
2, To Sell 300 Meals of Our Curry in All Events
Asking customers know and feel what our curry is about by themselves, we will attract as many customers as possible to get them know and come the events and eat our curry.
3, To Propose New Sustainable Value while Making Profits with “Asking Price”
We will know the value of Sustainability and Passion not only production costs in figures. Besides, if we should be in a deficit, it would mean that that is the value of Sustainability and Passion in the public eyes right now.
4, To Make and Show a Documentary Film about Sustainable Food
Through this project, we hear the stories of the people who involved in “food” in various ways like farmers, meats processers, we thought we should share these great stories for many people and the best way is movie.

Event Contents
As part of NAMIMATI’s sustainable food event, a marche called “Sustainable Food Market” will be held with companies from Shonan and other areas. NAMIMATI will be one of the stores at this event, selling curry in a kitchen car at a reasonable price. The curry will be made with off-specification vegetables from a farm in Shonan, thus approaching the issue of food loss. By selling sustainable curry at a bargain price, we hope that consumers will see the value of production costs, sustainability, and people’s thoughts, and by asking customers to put a price on their curry, we will encourage consumers to change their mindset and create new values. Based on the EU’s “From Farm to Fork” concept, we will also consider the value chain from primary industry farmers to consumers, and at this event, we will give primary industry farmers cash back for a portion of their sales at the asking price. Through this event, a short documentary film on sustainable food will be made and screened.

Profile
Ryu Murata, NAMIMATI なみまち
Born and raised in Zushi, Kanagawa
Third year at Science engineering department in Sophia University
20 years old
One of four founders of NAMIMATI
I have been loved the sea and rives at Zushi, hometown since childhood and like fishing, so I often go to the beach as for now.
One of the reasons why I started NAMIMATI activities is that I want to preserve nature in Shonan, which I love because it has not only the sea but also mountains.
